Released in the mid-1990s, the Photo Loco was part of Amutec's "Photo Ride" range and one of the very first rides to offer a photographic souvenir for the rider to take home with them.
2001 Amutec Flyer (Pale Blue Photo Loco)
The train was sold in at least three different colour variations (red, dark blue and pale blue) and came complete with a cartoon-style train driver in a yellow jumper, blue overalls and cap.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach, August 2018. This unit had unfortunately lost its camera component. It was also mute and had a Thomas the Tank Engine face fixed to the front of it. I remember riding on this actual Photo Loco as a child though, so it was nice to get a film of it, despite its condition.
Later, the Loco was released without the photographic feature as part of Amutec's Compact Ride range. The three colour variations were still available but this time the driver was optional.
2001 Amutec Flyer (Dark Blue Loco without Driver/Red Loco with Driver)
As of the 2001 Amutec catalogue, the photo ride cost £5,780.00, while the ordinary Loco cost £2,495.00 with driver or £2,345.00 without him.
