Manufactured by Jolly Roger Amusement Rides, Edd the Duck was their very first character ride, released in late 1991 or early 1992. Only twenty five were made, operated at Children's World stores across the UK on a profit share basis between Jolly Roger and Children's World's charity.
Many thanks to Simon (Back in the Day 44)!
The ride features Edd dressed as a pilot, seemingly based upon this clip of Edd at London City Airport which aired on BBC around 1991: Edd the Duck at London City Airport 1991 When the rides were removed from Children's World, the Edd figures were scrapped and the planes repurposed as ordinary bi-plane rides.
However, one example somehow survived, having been either sold or donated to the Caernarfon Airworld Aviation Museum. It was sited in their gift shop until Summer 2023 when I noticed it up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. I immediately recognised the ride that I had once thought scrapped out of existence. Back in the Day 44 purchased the ride and kindly provided me with the film above.
