Welephant

1990s Whittaker Brothers Leaflet

Manufactured by Whittaker Brothers, the Welephant Fire Engine was one of their earliest licensed rides, the company having negotiated worldwide manufacturing rights from Manchester Fire Brigade for the use of their mascot in amusement machines.  The ride is a modified version of Whittaker's Mini Fire Engine with Welephant sitting on the back.  It was first shown at the Whittaker Preview in November 1987.

It played an appropriate soundtrack when in motion and also had two push buttons for additional sound effects.

Merrivale Model Village, Great Yarmouth, May 2019.  Unfortunately, this unit was mute and had been partially repainted.

The ride measured 52" x 20" x 52".
