E-Type

RG Mitchell Advert - Amusement Trades Equipment News, January 1971

Manufactured by RG Mitchell, the E-Type was unveiled at the Amusement Trades Exhibition in January 1968.  Described as a very accurate replica, all of the drawings for the model were supplied by the Jaguar company themselves.

It was an extremely popular ride which Mitchell continued to manufacture for many years.

Talk of the Town Amusements, Herne Bay, August 2012.  This unit was a relatively early model, as can be seen by the star decorations on the sides of the base (which once would have been placed either side of the "E-Type" name). The poor thing had obviously seen better days at the time of my film (it had even lost its windscreen!) but I'm still pleased to have a record of such a special ride.  Alas, the Talk of the Town arcade itself is no more, so I can imagine the sad ending this ride this probably met.
