Sky Hawk/Fire Fox

Manufactured as part of their "Classic Rides" range, the Sky Hawk helicopter was released by RG Mitchell in the early 1990s.  While the bottom half was always white, the top half had many colour variations.  Green is the one I remember seeing most frequently.

Special features included flashing lights and realistic sound effects controlled by a joystick.

The mould was also used for Mitchell's Sky Hawk Police helicopter ride.

This was a very popular ride with shops and amusement arcades alike throughout the 1990s and even into the early 21st century, when most other generic rides seemed to have had their day.

A much rarer two-seater version, known as Fire Fox, was added to the range later in the 1990s.  The Fire Fox seems to have had the same basic design as the original Sky Hawk, but was obviously wider to accommodate the extra rider.  A two seater "Fire Fox Police" variation was also made.

All versions of both the Sky Hawk and Fire Fox included special lighting and sound effect features, as well as a joystick control so that the rider(s) could really feel as though they were flying the aircraft.

The two seater Fire Fox measured 73" x 30" x 58" and weighed 220lbs while the original Sky Hawks measured 63" x 25" x 60" and weighed just 150lbs.  As of the 2001 price list, they cost £2,095.00 and £1,895.00 respectively.
