1990s Whittaker Brothers Leaflet
Originally released as a red dragon specifically for the Welsh market in the late 1980s, this dragon was made by Whittaker Brothers. The dragon was recoloured in green with a red cape in the early 1990s and quickly became one of Whittaker Brothers' most popular rides. I can remember two of the green dragons on Brighton's Palace Pier which I absolutely adored when I was very small.
There was also a far rarer blue version made in the mid-1990s.
When in motion, the two-seater dragon played "Puff the Magic Dragon". It also had a push button for a fire breathing sound effect.
The dragon measured 62" 25" x 67" and weighed 198lbs.

The red variation in the video above dates from around 2000 when Whittaker Brothers updated the colours of the majority of their range of kiddie rides. I've never seen a coloured photo of the 1980s Welsh Dragon so don't know how his colours compare to the original.
