Manufactured by JM Kiddie Rides of Lowestoft, I believe this to be one of their original designs. It was first displayed at the Amusement Trades Exhibition in January 1977 and was apparently based on an old original wooden lifeboat ride.
As with all of JM Kiddie Rides' machines, it was made to be easily removed from the base and replaced with another toy from their range. The motor car, speedboat and tug boat were described as ideal replacements for this base.
It remained a popular design well into the 1990s.
Merrivale Model Village, September 2012. It's hard to date individual JM Kiddie Rides machines as the designs remained practically unchanged over the years. However, I would estimate this one as being from the late '80s or early '90s.
