Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, September 2015
This lion was manufactured by Edward Savill in the late 1970s. Judging by certain characteristics (the shape of the eyes and outstretched legs particularly), I think it must have been designed by Edwin Hall. I did originally believe this to be Hall's 1966 World Cup Willie ride, but have since found a photo showing part of a ride which appears to disprove this theory. However, I cannot imagine why else a lion would have a human-like "belt" at the back of his saddle! Possibly this was a prototype design for World Cup Willie and Edward Savill acquired a mould (or cast a mould from a prototype) after Edwin Hall's company was closed.
