Rocking Ride

Rollite Advert - The Coin Slot, October 1968

Originally named plain old "Rocking Ride", this flying saucer is the first ride confirmed to have been made by Rollite.

A static version of Rollite's battery operated "Flying Saucer Car", the Rocking Ride was first advertised in The Coin Slot newspaper in October 1968. It had an unusual forward and sideward rocking motion and came in a variety of different colours "finished in the famous Rollite sparkle".  The original price was £265.

Just one month later in November 1968, the Rocking Ride had been renamed "Flying Saucer" and Rollite were producing two other rides. (I suppose "Rocking Ride" was too general a name once there were other rocking rides in the range!)
