Flippy the Dolphin

Manufactured by BRH Fibreglass, this dolphin was released in 1968.  It was originally produced specifically for the Belgian market after a well known client of BRH's requested ten dolphin rides to be made.  After the production of these ten, the dolphin was added to BRH's regular range and Flippy became the sixth ride in their line up.

Holiday Inn Amusements, St Osyth, October 2012.  This unit had been refurbished by Glass Fibre Products of Lowestoft, repainted and renamed as Flipper in their distinctive style.  However, paintwork aside, Flippy appears just as he would have done in the late 1960s with his original base and footplates.

The mould would then be reused by RJ Newborough in the mid-1970s for his dolphin ride.
